Responsibilities
- Administrate and proactive monitor 40+ production database instances to maintain uptime and availability across multiple datacentres
- Ensure the database operations and projects execute according to management’s direction and effectively coordinate with the third-party database support team
- Maintain timely and accurate communications throughout the project delivery to ensure the database infrastructure risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and schedules are correctly tracked
- Schedule and implement the change requests
- Develop and maintain database documentation (e.g., standard, operation procedure, security guideline, deployment architecture)
- Proficient in database architecture design, installation, migration, and upgrade
- Arrange capacity planning, maintenance, housekeeping, and optimization
- Provide technical advice to Information Technology colleagues on the use of the database technologies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and delivery partners
- Assist and help as required with the resolution of complex database operational incidents and determine the root cause of the problem
- Second-line database support in normal/off-hours and on-call attendance as required
Requirements
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (or equivalent discipline)
- Primary Database Technologies – Oracle (with Data Guard) is a must
- Secondary Database Technologies – Microsoft SQL Server (with AlwaysOn Availability Group), MySQL, and MongoDB
- Supporting parallel projects in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment
- Ability to articulate ideas verbally and in the written form
- Well-developed problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
- Sound analytical and creative mind, and be able to work under pressure
- Minimum 8-years of working experience in the IT field, with a proven record working in a database team (no lesser than 4-years)
- Experience managing a database team will be an advantage
- Experience in large-scale database patching/upgrade/migration will be an advantage
- Experience in hybrid cloud-based/on-premises database operation will be an advantage
- Experience working with data analytics/warehouse teams will be an advantage
- For those who have more experience will be considered as Assistant Manager – Database Administration
- Good command in Cantonese, English, and Putonghua
