Senior Manager – Programs (Hong Kong Life Sciences Society)

Responsibilities

  • Program Planning: Develop and refine programs to drive member engagement and public participation. Design and manage initiatives to attract and inspire young talent from biomedical and life science backgrounds to participate in our programs.
  • Leadership of Programs: Manage the Summer Internship Program, Mentorship Scheme, and Hong Kong Life Sciences Scholarship Awards. Ensure successful implementation and growth of these programs in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Shanghai, providing young individuals with opportunities to engage in the field of life and biomedical sciences.
  • Outreach and Partnership: Plan and execute outreach activities to enhance public awareness of life sciences and the Society. Collaborate internally and with partners and run campaigns to broaden understanding of life sciences and its impact on everyday life.
  • Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with academia, biotech companies, and like-minded organizations. Collaborate with stakeholders to foster mutually beneficial relationships and leverage resources to support the Society’s objectives.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Undertake administrative duties, including supervising the program team, managing the unit budgets, and setting priorities. Ensure efficient allocation and utilization of resources to achieve the Society’s objectives and key results.

Requirements

  • Background in sciences or a related field, with a deep understanding of its importance and potential
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant managerial experience in designing and implementing successful engagement programs or initiatives in sciences or technology
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to establish and nurture partnerships with stakeholders
  • Experience in working in sizable organizations with established systems and approval processes
  • Adaptability to changing situations and evolving industry environments, making informed judgments in the current context
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin and budget management at the unit level
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Manager – Programs
