(October 3, 2024 – Hong Kong) Nan Fung Group (Nan Fung) is dedicated to promoting sustainable development and enhancing well-being to build a vibrant and resilient community. Today, Nan Fung announced an investment of HKD140 million in 2024 to     implement holistic health projects, fully realising the Group’s SEWIT sustainability

framework. The AIRSIDE office is honoured with the WELL Certified Platinum recognition, creating balanced work environments for employees and tenants.

Meanwhile,  Nan Fung is actively promoting wellness activities in the community. In recognition of World Smile Day on October 4th, AIRSIDE will launch a series of Restoring Happiness events in October. These include announcing the results of the Happy Moments Index and establishing a Wellness Lounge at AIRSIDE to help individuals alleviate stress and achieve a healthy balance.

Billy Hui, Executive Director of Hong Kong Property Division, Nan Fung Group, stated, “ Nan Fung  upholds the
founder’s motto of 'Care for others as well as you would care for yourself"and strives to create sustainable working and living environments for employees, tenants, partners, customers and community stakeholders. We promote holistic wellness to enhance physical health and mental well-being. We believe that employee wellness significantly boosts efficiency, creativity and cohesion, reducing turnover and supporting the Group’s long-term growth. Looking ahead, we will continue investing resources in beneficial and sustainable projects both within Nan Fung and the community, fostering a vibrant work environment and positive culture to build a resilient community.”

Crafting a Human-centric WELL Office for Enhanced Workplace Health

As global enterprises prioritise workplace wellness,  Nan Fung recognises employee well-being as critical to long-term success. In 2024,  Nan Fung has committed HKD140 million to improve holistic health for employees, tenants and community stakeholders. Key initiatives include developing a WELL-certified office space, launching an Employee Mental Health Support Hotline, and organising regular Wellness Wednesday experiences.

In May 2024, the Group relocated its headquarters to AIRSIDE, a premier Grade A office building, marking a milestone in its sustainable journey. This landmark project incorporates sustainable design, making it the first in Hong Kong to receive eight prestigious green and smart building certifications. The WELL Certified Platinum office enhances well-being by increasing open areas to encourage interaction, providing a dedicated space for relaxation called the SEWIT Hub, as well as equipping workstations with ergonomically designed furniture. AIRSIDE’s human-centric office design ensures a productive and comfortable environment, fostering balance and maximising potential.

Wellness Wednesdays and Employee Mental Health Support Hotline to Enhance Workplace Mental Health

To further improve the well-being of employees and tenants, Nan Fung conducted its first Group Employee Wellness Survey this year to gain a deeper understanding of employees’ workplace wellness needs. Based on the World Health Organization’s (“WHO”) physical activity standard, Nan Fung developed a series of SEWell programmes, which includes monthly Wellness Wednesday experiences. These diverse experiences, such as yoga classes, running tours, massages by visually impaired therapists, and fair-trade coffee and chocolate tastings, raise awareness of health and encourage a positive, proactive work environment. According to Nan Fung’s latest sustainability report – SEWIT Report 2023-24, the Group’s turnover rate decreased by 2% this year.

Additionally, Nan Fung has implemented an employee support programme in association with EAP (Employee Assistance Program), offering a 24-hour mental health support hotline. Professional counsellors provide guidance and clinical psychological services for employees and their immediate families, addressing work, family, social, and other concerns. The comprehensive programme not only supports workplace mental health but also fosters productivity and a positive work environment conducive to Nan Fung’s long-term sustainability goals.

Results from the “Happy Moments Index” Revealed. New “Restoring Happiness” Initiative Launched In Support of World Smile Day.

Since its establishment in 2021, Nan Fung Group’s community initiative “In Time Of” has focused on sustainability and social innovation, organising over 200 public events in collaboration with different community groups and individuals. The annual theme for this year focuses on mental and physical health, featuring key events like Sports Date and Restoring Happiness. These initiatives aim to promote exercise, raise mental health awareness, and build resilience through workshops and experiences.

In Time Of conducted a poll for the Happy Moments Index in Nan Fung malls to understand what brings people the most happiness. Over 1,000 citizens participated in the survey. The top reported factors contributing to short-term happiness were found to be good health, finding bargains, simply resting, playing with furry friends, and enjoying nature. Celebrating the World Smile Day on 4 October, employees at AIRSIDE, The Mills, Nan Fung Place and TKO Plaza will wear Happy Smile stickers to spread goodwill and joyful vibes. Throughout October, AIRSIDE has set up a Wellness Lounge, offering scream therapy, laughter yoga, and music therapy to help visitors alleviate stress and find inner peace.

Additionally, Nan Fung recently put out a call to recruit Happy Shuffle Guides, providing them with professional training to engage visitors with a game of Happy Shuffle Cards, an art therapy-based exercise that helps people express and manage emotions. Co-organising with the D. H. Chen Foundation and collaborating with NGO Pause & Breathe as creative partner, the BREATHING IN THE AIR project provides mindfulness tips and relaxation messages around AIRSIDE, encouraging people to release stress and focus on the present moment.

The Mills Promotes The Acceptance of Errors to Enhance Emotional Resilience

Building resilience is key to mental and emotional well-being. On 5th and 6th October, The Mills, in collaboration with HKBN Talent CSI Fund and Breakthrough, will host the EMO ERROR GYM Experience. Participants will engage in exercises to change their habits in dealing with emotions,  promoting a culture of resilience through accepting mistakes as opportunities for growth.

As a pet-friendly mall, The Mills also offers wellness activities for pets and owners, including yoga and pet yoga sessions, encouraging mindfulness and flexibility.

AIRSIDE Expands Health Initiatives for a Sustainable and Resilient Community

Located in Kai Tak, Nan Fung’s flagship project AIRSIDE embraces the concept of  “Wholeness” to create a healthy, low-carbon, resilient community. Inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), AIRSIDE is the first development in Hong Kong to receive eight green and smart building certifications. Innovative technology allows AIRSIDE to monitor factors like temperature, humidity, air quality and carbon emissions in real-time via the Neuron Smart Building Control System. The optimisation of the internal environment helps reduce energy consumption in support of Nan Fung’s long-standing commitment to sustainability.

AIRSIDE aims to become the city’s premier Culturetainment Hub by partnering with sports brands, tenants, and community stakeholders to integrate sports into daily life and promote well-being. Following the arrival of the professional indoor surfing brand Groundswell last year, AIRSIDE welcomed Asphodel House in August. Spanning over 20,000 sq. ft., this is the largest CrossFit and Performance training facility in Hong Kong, offering comprehensive services including CrossFit, yoga, Reformer Pilates, beauty treatments, physiotherapy, and a health cafe. Under the guidance of professional coaches, purpose-driven training programmes help customers to improve both their physical and mental well-being, fostering an active and health-conscious community.
